The institute recently hosted U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand as they announced bipartisan legislation to provide enhanced education benefits, job training and streamlined certification processes for our nation's returning veterans.

IVMF hosts Conference on Engaging Community Support for Veterans

In cooperation with U.S. Rep. Ann Marie Buerkle, the conference presented an opportunity to harness the power of community in supporting, engaging and respecting our nation's veterans. Topics of discussion included health and wellness, employment and education. Keynote speaker was U.S. Rep. Jeff Miller, chairman of the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs. The event will serve as a national model. 

Analysis of 2011 BLS annual report on employment situation of vets

The IVMF compared the unemployment trend for post-9/11 vets and non-vets from Jan. 2006 to Feb. 2012, a period with a higher veteran unemployment rate that is trending higher each year. Female post-9/11 vets, especially, experienced high rates during the period and have an unemployment rate also trending higher. IVMF Halfway To Clinton Global Initiative Commitment

The IVMF made a Clinton Global Initiative Commitment to Action to develop and launch a multi-faceted educational program over 24 months to increase economic advancement of veterans and their families. We are now halfway to our goal of reaching 2,000 people directly.
