Troubleshooting Application issues:

If you are experiencing issues with completing or submitting your application, please attempt the steps below to attempt to resolve the issue.

Save your application:

  • Save your application by clicking the ‘Save Answers and Resume Later’ link at the bottom of the application on the page.
  • A pop-up dialogue box will appear asking, ‘Are you sure you want to leave this form and resume later?’
  • Click’ Yes’.
  • You will then get a message with a link to your in-progress application, as well as a text field, in which you can enter your email address and send the link to yourself for safe keeping.

If you are experiencing issues with submitting your application:

  • Save your in-progress application using the steps above and email the in-progress survey link to yourself.
  • Clear the cache in your browser (see below for further instructions).
  • Once the cache has been cleared, please use the application link in your email to access your in-progress application.
  • If you are still experiencing issues after clearing your cache, please send a screenshot or detailed description to ljmclaug@syr.edu

If you are experiencing issues with attaching files to your application:

  • Save your in-progress application using the steps above and email the in-progress survey link to yourself.
  • Make sure that you have uploaded all required documents prior to submitting or trying to go to the next page.
    (Required documents are marked with a red astericks)
  • File limit of attachment uploads is 5 MB.
  • Please make sure the file you are attempting to upload is in an acceptable format; .doc, .pdf, .jpg, .png
  • If you are still experiencing issues after checking these items, please send your in-progress application link as well as the required attachments to ljmclaug@syr.edu

How to clear the cache on your browser:

Chrome:

– Go to chrome://chrome/settings/clearBrowserData
– Check “Empty the Cache”
– Choose “From the Beginning of time”
– Click “Clear Browsing Data”

IE:

– Click the “Tools” menu bar.
– Choose “Internet Options”
– On the “General” tab, click “Clear History”
– When it asks “Delete all items in your History folder?”, click “OK”
– Click “OK”

Firefox on OSX:

– On the menu bar, click on the Firefox menu and select Preferences
– Select the Advanced panel
– Click on the Network tab
– In the Cached Web Content section, click “Clear Now”
– Close the Preferences window

Firefox on Windows:

– Go to Options (if you’re running recent versions of Firefox, you click the orange Firefox button, then go to options, and then options again)
– Click “Advanced”
– In the Cached Web Content Section, click Clear Now.

Safari on OSX:

– Click Safari
– Click Reset Safari
– Uncheck everything but “Remove All Website Data”
– Click Reset

Safari on Windows:

– Click the Cog on the right side of the search bar
– Click Reset Safari
– Uncheck everything but “Remove All Website Data”
– Click Reset

Opera:

– Click Opera
– Click Preferences
– Click Advanced
– Click History
– Click the “Empty Now” button in the same row as Disk cache
